Les Kelso | Advisor
Les currently serves as the Vice President of Supply Chain for Surge Energy, reporting directly to the CEO. Prior to November 2019, Mr. Kelso was president of his own oil and gas company, LH1 Energy. From his current leadership position to his days as a roughneck in the oil fields of Libya, Les has been involved in the Oil and Gas Industry on all levels of production.
Mr. Kelso spent 19 years working overseas including 6-year assignments in Egypt and Trinidad each before moving back to Houston in 2000. Mr. Kelso then worked for BP for 8 years on Deepwater projects in the Gulf of Mexico including Thunderhorse, Holstein, Atlantis, Mad Dog, and many others.
In the last 8 years with the Hess Corporation, Mr. Kelso drilled, completed, produced and managed wells across Europe, North Africa, and Russia with the last 5 years serving as the Director of Drilling and Completions for onshore Global Unconventional plays which encompassed all onshore operations worldwide.
Since leaving Hess in June 2016, Mr. Kelso set up a consulting company to provide a framework for executing opportunities and earned an MBA in the highly ranked and rigorous Rice Executive MBA program at the Jones Graduate School of Business.
He received a Petroleum Engineering degree in 1980 from Texas Tech University and then spent his professional life in all four corners of the world with large offshore and onshore Drilling and Completions projects with Amoco, BP, and Hess.
Mr. Kelso now aims to focus on using his company to innovate and grow within the Oil and Gas industry and using his experience to energize teams and push them to success through positivity and insight.
