James Hou | VP of Investor Relations
James grew up in a small town in Southwest Missouri. After high school, he attended the University of Missouri, including enrolling in the Army ROTC program. While in college, James enlisted as a combat medic with the Missouri Army National Guard, in July 2001.
After four years with the National Guard, James received his commission as a second lieutenant, assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. While with the 101st, he completed a tour in Iraq, and served as squadron adjutant and public affairs officer for an Air Cavalry squadron (OH-58 Kiowa Warriors). James served five years on active duty, resigning his commission as a captain to attend Tulane Law School.
While in law school, James was student intern for the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic, student attorney for the Tulane Juvenile Law Clinic, managing editor for the Tulane Maritime Law Journal, and summer intern for a U.S. Senator. Upon graduation, James accepted a role as full-time staff member for the Senator.
Prior to joining Bellatorum Resources, James worked for nine years in the commercial insurance industry, advising clients in the healthcare, energy, and construction industries. His clients included hospital systems, midstream operators, and investors in multi-million-dollar real estate portfolios.
James and his wife, Katie, have four kids, and two dogs. Having a household of four school-age children doesn’t leave much free time. But, when they can find time away from football, basketball, track, and gymnastics, James and the family try to get away to national parks and national forests.
